PR: Statement on Portsmouth Asst. Mayor Splaine’s illegal suggestion re: vaccines

Please use this statement from RebuildNH Chairman Andrew J. Manuse:

“By requiring Portsmouth city employees to either get a COVID-19 vaccine or submit to testing for the COVID-19 virus, Portsmouth Assistant Mayor Jim Splaine is suggesting that the City violate brand new chaptered law that was passed as part of HB 220,” said Andrew J. Manuse, chairman of RebuildNH.

The new law states, “Every person has the natural, essential and inherent right to bodily integrity, free from any threat or compulsion by government to accept an immunization.”

“Requiring COVID testing in lieu of a a vaccination is the very definition of “threat or compulsion by government to accept an immunization,” Manuse said. “Medical decisions are personal decisions made by each individual (or their parents if they are a minor), and employers or any other authority, such as a school, should have absolutely no right to get involved with these decisions. If Portsmouth pursues this idea from Assistant Mayor Splaine, it would be illegal under the new law.”
