This bill specifically deals with rectifying the now infamous “Manchester case” of the mom who sued after being denied truthful information about her child’s gender and transition status in school. You can read more here. This bill states that a school cannot make a policy that allows the schools to deny parents information about their children. In the past, RebuildNH has referred to legislation like this as the “no secrets bill”.

This bill removes the authority of the department of health and human services to add vaccines to the required school schedule through rule making. Most people don’t understand that rule making has the color and weight of law, but are actually just rules made up by unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats with little public input or oversight. Its quite an insidious process and the source of the real “swamp”. If this bill became law, the only way a new vaccine could be added to the vaccines school schedule is through the legislative process, where your elected representatives would debate the merits and vote with plenty of public input.

I have heard from many of you that your school’s are requiring you use the department of health and human services religious exemption form now. This was a mistake in the legislative process. A few years ago we removed the notary requirement from the religious exemption law and somehow changed one word and POOF! Now the department has interpreted this to mean that we must use their forms, which include lots of information about the child above a statement of religious exemption. This bill changes that word back and specifically states that there can be no requirement more than a statement that the child has a religious exemption and a parental signature.

This bill repeals the New Hampshire Vaccine Association. The association has been lobbying hard to save their jobs in this antiquated bureaucracy and misinformation is flying about it. Please contact your reps and tell them to vote for HB524, but first, please review my fact sheet I made to correct the record.
