Legislative Update Week of Feb. 17th, 2025

Rebuild Top Priorities This Week

Very busy week ahead. Several top RebuildNH priorities are on deck.

Many on this list are probably very relieved and happy about the proceedings down in D.C. lately. But the beauty of federalism is that we are neither at the mercy nor the protection of the federal government. The state of New Hampshire and what happens here has a much bigger impact on your day to day lives than whatever is produced by the Trump administration in D.C.. We have precious few tools available to impact the federal government, but our state officials will personally take our calls to discuss important matters close to home.

I implore everyone reading this to continue to take a few minutes each week to influence your state legislators. The future of liberty in New Hampshire depends on it.

I try to be considerate of everyone’s time and I reserve calls to attend hearings for only the highest priorities. Wednesday, February 19, would be a great day to come to Concord because three of RebuildNH’s top priority bills will be heard. If you don’t want to speak, that’s fine, but it’s important to make your presence felt.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I am still trying to get to the bottom of why our emails to the committees aren’t always working. IT over at the State House has made it incredibly difficult to email House committees this year. Please email them, but also submit (copy and paste) the email into the testimony section of the sign in portal found here.

Tuesday, February 18, N.H. House
Environment and Agriculture
LOB, Room 301-303

2:00 p.m. – SUPPORT – HB396
RebuildNH has decided to get involved in food security and freedom. Currently, in NH, if a farm uses a custom processor that is not USDA-inspected, they can only sell a whole or half cow, pig, or lamb directly to the consumer. These large portions can cost upwards of $1,000 and are not feasible for many individual consumers. New Hampshire has a severe shortage of USDA-certified processors, which is the only way individual cuts can be sold. HB396 allows farms to sell meat by the cut to restaurants, grocery stores, and members of the public without a USDA inspection when it is raised and processed in NH. It will remove the huge upfront cost to consumers, who would not need to purchase whole or half animals, and allow more consumers access to quality, locally raised food.

Judiciary
LOB, Room 205-208

10:30 a.m. – SUPPORT – HB584
This bill states that the state of New Hampshire and its political subdivisions will never enforce any mandate from the World Health Organization, World Economic Forum, or United Nations. This is the ultimate anti-globalist bill.

Health and Human Services
LOB, Room 202-204

This bill came up last year. It opens up biosimilar substitutions for pharmaceutical drugs. It’s a free market approach to reducing drug prices. This chart helps to explain. Currently if a doctor prescribes Drug A, the pharmacist can substitute Drug B or C. If they prescribe Drug B, they can substitute Drug A, but not Drug C. This simply allows the pharmacist to recommend Drug B or C interchangeably, particularly if it saves the customer money. Big Pharma absolutely despises this bill because it will dramatically cut their bottom line.

Third times a charm! Hopefully new year, new governor, and a better chance to get this signed. Governor Sununu twice vetoed this bill to permanently ban public school mask mandates.

This bill says that there can be no prescribing, diagnosing, or surgical capabilities in public schools. This is how we rein in the CDC “school based health clinics”. I’ve done several podcast episodes about this dangerous concept if you are interested in diving deeper into the subject.
